Does jailbreak with limera1n result in low battery life?

Reading this topical I noticed that many people there are complaining about the fact that jailbreaking with limera1n led to an inexplicable drop in battery life. Searching a little on Google, I noticed that the problem is quite widespread among iDevices users: 1, 2, 3 and most of those who answered there use limera1n RC1b published by geohot 2 days ago. Of course, the issue of using greenpois0n at the expense of limera1n was discussed to solve this problem with autonomy and the people there praise greenpois0n for the fact that it does not cause any kind of problems with the terminal's battery. I jailbroken my iPhone 4 with greenpois0n and to be honest I didn't notice an unusually high consumption on the first day of use, but I didn't notice any decrease in battery autonomy with limera1n either.

At the moment I have limera1n on the iPhone 4 and greenpois0n on the iPhone 3GS and I will monitor the battery status for each of the 2 terminals to see if the 3GS loses 12% of its battery overnight as some say on foreign forums. I will check to see what effect the use of greenpois0n has on the battery life, but to be honest I don't know what to expect. Jailbreak solutions affect the autonomy of the battery and the installation of certain applications from Cydia leads to an even greater decrease considering that certain applications run on the basis of mobilesubstrate or other patches that work constantly in the background.

Did you have problems with the autonomy of the battery after the jailbreak?

  1. Me on a 3GS with limera1n on 4.1 versus JailbreakMe on 4.0.1 I noticed a difference.... with JailbreakMe on 4.0.1 I had a decrease of 1% / night and last night with 4.1 with limera1n I had almost 10% in the same conditions, applications, tweaks...

PS: Jailbreak done with "new Device" (clean restore)

  2. @Ovi: I wasn't referring to you specifically, but in general. And it was a joke ๐Ÿ˜‰ I had one day and jb with greenpois0n, and the rest of the days with limera1n. I didn't notice any differences. After jb I uninstalled limera1n and Cydia. I only installed a patch from Cydia, nothing else.

  3. offtopic: how will your iPhone battery last more than a day? I have wireless at home and at work... I spam twitter, cydia, for some time also through install0us, a bit of the app store ๐Ÿ˜› and it doesn't last me more than a day... I tried all kinds of apps with "battery tips" and it's the same... if I have 4-5 hours of usage, I can get to standby for 3-4 days ๐Ÿ˜›

  4. That's 100%. limera1n eats battery hard. I also noticed it on the iPhone 4 and on the iPad. Tomorrow I will restore both. I also installed exactly the same applications as before and the problem with the battery is noticeable. ps. Deleteplz what iPhone do you have? As with the iPhone 3gs, it is the same, but with the iPhone 4 two

  5. I encountered the same problem when I jailbroken to 4.0 with Snowbreeze.
It consumes 20% of my battery at night.

@ovi See if it shows you in Settings>General>Usage the same period for Stand By and Usage (it shows me this way).

  6. I have an iPhone 4 of 16GB, iOS 4.1 jailbreak lamera1n and unlocked... it lasted me today for 6 hours of effective use and 16 and 15 min in standby... I used it normally, that is, I was on the net, talked on the phone, video called on messenger for about 15 -20 min, played cut the rope for about 1 hour, modern combat about 40-50 min on the net, fifa about 30 min, skype on in the background... he consumes modern combat 2 the most... I don't know what to say... it would be cool to appear an application that monitors how much you used an application that day to know exactly how it is with the iPhone's battery usage...

  7. On my iPhone 4, I have limera1n RC1, not with b at the end. If I stop all programs in the background and leave it overnight with the battery at 100%, in the morning I have 98-97% and by the way, I never stop 3G. So my opinion is that he behaves f ok. I haven't tried Greenpois0n.

  8. For 2 years since I used my iPhone, I haven't given importance to the battery because I turn it on every evening when I get home to charge my iPhone

  9. Iphone 3GS โ€“ Jailbreak with limera1n. The phone was kept with airplane mode on and only SBsettings installed with MobileSubstrate. The decrease in battery with the phone in standby over a period of 7 hours was 3%.

  10. From 4.0 to 4.1 I can say even with JB through limera1n that the battery lasts longer, it is certain that 4.1 seems to be made especially for the battery to be optimized to the maximum. I have iPhone 4.

After almost 90 minutes of almost continuous talking on the phone, the battery dropped to 88-90%, which seemed great to me!

  11. I did jb with limera1n and the battery doesn't last more than 36 hours. iphone4 ios 4.1. normal conditions of use. and I can't uninstall the limera1n application

  12. @KINGUS: Use Cydelete from Cydia and you will be able to uninstall limera1n from springboard.

I used limera1n RCbeta 3 on IP4/4.1 and the battery lasts about 36 hours with a usage of @4 hours. I have many applications from Cydia installed, about 5-6 that use mobilesubstare, so they run permanently in the background and I think that is acceptable. Before the jailbreak, even after 4 hours of usage, the battery lasted a little over 48 hours.

  13. Yes, it has a lot to do with the battery... I leave it on during the day... it's only connected to the wireless and in the evening it's ready... so I don't use it at all... what can I do?

  14. Hello. I also noticed a higher battery consumption on an iPhone 3GS with 4.1 after jailbreaking with limera, the latest version. Today I restore and jailbreak it with greenpoison. I will keep you updated with the result after a few days.

  15. I just tested this. I put it on in the evening with 100 and after 6 hours I had 93. I left it on with the alarm and I snoozed it from time to time and after another 2 hours I had 65. This in the conditions where I have 3G on and wifi always connected. It seems to me that it goes much faster than 3.1.3 with spirit, which I had before (95 remained the maximum before). What could I do in the face of having to resort to results? can I do with greenpoison over limera1n? I forgot to say that now I have 4.0.1

  16. I have a 3GS with iOS 4.1 on it... last night I charged it to 100% before I went to bed (that is at 12)... and this morning (at half past 10 now) I found it at 95%... I jailbroken with limera1n version 4 beta as if... and on my phone I have 2 folders full of games, 2 folders full of applications + others (such as radio, Facebook, etc.) and it stayed connected to wi-fi all night... so I don't know what to say... me it doesn't seem to me that the limera1n affected the autonomy in any way... anyway, the battery lasts me about 1 day under normal conditions ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. I jailbroken with limera1 on a 3gs 4.1 ... the battery lasts me about 2 days if I don't play and one day if I play froggy jump :))

  18. I have a puzzle:
I have a 4.1 JB ipod touch 3G with limera1n and what I downloaded via installous, only the applications are transferred to my PC via itunes, the games are not transferred. I have 5 games (scrabble, talking larry, worms, rock band and dirt bike) and it doesn't want to transfer them.
    Do you know why?

  19. Zaone, I jailbroken with limera1n and it really seemed ok to me, the phone moves very well. I'm waiting for your opinion, do you think the battery lasts longer if I jailbreak with greenpois0n? To be honest, it seemed like an improvement over 4.0.1. Waiting for your answer. Thanks.

  20. I completely agree with you, I'm waiting for your answer when you find out, until then I'm still in limera1n. Thanks a lot. I really like your website, I even go to it several times a day, I learned a lot of information, you're cool, keep it up.

  21. To everyone. Zaone as I have vb and yesterday it seems that I can't do JB on Ipod 3g 8gb with limera1n or greenp0ison. Today I got another ipod from a friend and the same.
Ontopic: I also did jb on a 3gs coded on orange france. I don't have a decoding sim and I have problems with the battery when using jb. I left it charging all night and after about 10 minutes of playing I have 80% battery left. Should I do jb with greenp0ison? I wouldn't want to block it again and walk around trying to decode it.

  22. So surely I can do JB without getting stuck with it? If I restore them before doing JB, then I have nothing to do because I'm stuck with it.

  23. When I bought the iPhone it was 5.14.03 on 4.0.2 and I confused the software between them and updated to 4.1... That's how I got to 4.1. Now it's with limera1n jb on 4.1 and it seems to hold less battery.

  24. Zaone, your Cydia application eats up enough battery ๐Ÿ™‚ ... especially since it pushes 2 or even 3 times at some stations... if you have push activated for all the applications that "also" use push, don't expect it to "also" keep your battery... disable cellular data and wi-fi and it will last a week... ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. @zaone: "Just restore and jailbreak and with greenpois0n you can do more. If you apply one jailbreak on top of the other, you will definitely have problems."

So I applied over limera1n, greenpoison, and nothing really happened, it really seems to work better :))

  26. Are you sure? Didn't it start to smoke? ๐Ÿ˜€ Then it's probably from the fact that they use the same exploit. In general, if you apply 2 jailbreak solutions on the same iOS, you end up in Recovery Mode.

  27. I hope to receive an answer if someone knows:

Can a program be installed on the ipod touch 3G to show "Usage data" like on the iPhone?

  28. @zaone
I'm referring to that "Usage" in the iPhone settings, where I can select the battery percentage.?
    Understand?
Can something like this be installed on the iPod?

  29. Hello. On an iPhone 3GS, with iOS 4.1, I jailbroken with limera 1n, after which I noticed a rather high battery consumption, so I restored and jb again with greenpoison. The result is the same. The battery is consumed in no time.. For example, overnight in approx. 8 hours, 11 percent went, that's right with Wi-Fi and 3g activated, but still before the update, in the same mode of use, it consumes about half as much consume now. Good thing it doesn't run on gasoline. Petrom has just announced a new increase today. ๐Ÿ™‚ I guess it's jb's fault and I don't really have anything to do.

  30. @zaone
    1. What to expect? ๐Ÿ™‚ to be updated?
    2. I had JB with limera1n and I did a restore to see how it is with greenpois0n. It seems to me that greenpois0n eats up the battery faster than limera1n.

  31. Zaone, I fully charged the phone last night at 2 and this morning when I woke up at 10, the battery percentage was 100% in the conditions in which I received a 9-minute call at 1. I had everything closed from multitasking, plus I don't keep the phone on 3g except when I need the internet. In my opinion, I don't see any crazy consumption of the battery, it was like that before 4.1, I even noticed a 4.1 optimization, the battery lasts longer when you use the functions of the phone, whatever they are, including the Internet. This is my opinion, I'm waiting for yours when you find out something. A good day.

  32. From what I searched on the net, I came to the conclusion that, for both JB variants (limera1n & GP), about 20% of people complain about a clear decrease in battery autonomy. Those of you who have tested both variants, what do you think? I've read dozens of Romanian and foreign posts and I can't decide whether to go to the facts or not. Another question for those who have done something like this, returning with a restore, has the battery problem been fixed? I use an Iphone 4 with IOS 4.1.
