Do you think that to see an SMS message on the iPad you should jailbreak? Well think again! It seems that in iOS 4.2 GM Apple a PUT the possibility of receiving SMS messages! For now, these messages can only be sent by mobile phone operators, as you can clearly see in the picture above, but I'm sure that there will be various tweaks available in Cydia that will even allow sending SMS without no problem. In fact, there are already applications in Cydia that allow you to do this, but with iOS 4.2 the iPad tablet will have this functionality natively installed by iOS and you will not have to jailbreak for it.
However, for now only mobile phone operators will be able to send SMS messages, but I see that lately Apple has gotten used to implementing iOS tweaks from Cydia, so maybe in the future we will have an SMS application for the iPad tablet as well. Until then, this new functionality is only available on the iPad 3G because it is the only one that allows the insertion of a SIM card.
