There are already some virtual application stores on the market, but Google did it in such a way that it find a place among them. The main 3 virtual bookstores are owned by Apple, Amazon and Barnes and Noble, but Google couldn't be left behind, so it made its own bookstore. Unlike the other 3 stores, the Google store can be accessed from: iOS, Android, Sony Reader, Barnes and Noble Nook and many other terminals that support the Adobe Digital Editions DRM standard for PDF and ePub. At the moment, Google eBooks has over 3 million books offered for free to users, but besides these there is also an impressive selection of books that can be purchased.

A very interesting element of this eBook Store is the fact that it allows reading books from both applications and browsers, the entire content being stored on Google's servers along with details about the books read and how much you have read from each one. I imagine that Google has or will implement a system that will allow you to save a page from a certain book to automatically open the page where you left off when you want to continue reading.

Google "sticks its tail" in almost all areas where Apple exists, but this is not a new thing because basically Android is quite similar to iOS, right? Google Books for iOS is free but only available in the US AppStore.
