RecBoot 2.1 – simplifies the process of getting an iPhone out of Recovery Mode

RecBoot is a utility with which iDevice owners can bring a terminal out of Recovery Mode. It's been a while since the last update for this application, but recently version 2.1 was published by the developer and I recommend you to get it. RecBoot it only works on Mac OS X and is an absolutely necessary utility for those who have an iPad baseband on an iPhone because with its help they can remove the terminal from Recovery Mode after receiving error 1015 during a restore.

From the screenshot we can see that the application would also work to remove an iPhone from Recovery Mode after restoring to iOS 4.2.1, but for now I cannot confirm this.

Here's what's new in RecBoot 2.1:

  • If the device isn't in recovery mode and the user hits Exit Recovery, we don't send the usb commands anymore.
  • When the user hits the close button, it kills the application. Same as CMD+Q.
  • Auto-updating system via Sparkle framework
  • 10.5.x support.
  • If the device is in an unknown mode or it is an unknown device, we now display this neatly in deviceString.

As I said, the utility only works on Mac OS X, so don't download it if you have Windows. RecBoot 2.1 can be downloaded from here.
