After the medical accessories that worked with iDevices, now we have a new way to use an iPhone, but this time to control a robot, more precisely a robot ball. Sphero is called the ball and it is produced by the company Orbotix which says that this accessory is about 6 months away from being launched on the market, but from what I can see it works extremely well. The iPhone connects via Bluetooth to the robot and with the help of an application the movement of the ball can be controlled regardless of the direction. The application allows connecting to several devices simultaneously and as you can see in the video, they can all be controlled using the same console.

Orbotix is now working on an API that will allow iOS application developers to make games or applications using these APIs. Sphero should be available in the second half of this year and the producers estimate that it will cost less than $100.
