When will Apple reach the figure of 10 billion applications downloaded from iTunes?

2 days ago I wrote one article in which we told you that you have the opportunity to win an iTunes Gift Card worth $10.000 if you are the person who downloads the 10 billionth application from Apple's AppStore. In just 2 days after publication counter's with the help of which we can view the number of applications downloaded in real time, over 67 million applications were downloaded from the AppStore, Cnet claiming that around 1.000 applications are downloaded every 3 seconds. Their statement is correct and if you follow the counter for 1 minute you will realize that over 20.000 applications are downloaded every 60 seconds.

Considering the fact that over 66 million applications were downloaded in 2 days and over 20.000 are downloaded per minute, in how many days will the figure of 10 billion be reached? If we do a little calculation, we notice that more than 160 million downloads are needed to reach the figure of 10 billion, and at more than 30 million downloads per day, it means that in about 5 days the winner of the contest will be chosen. Of course, this assumption could be totally inaccurate and depends on the dynamics of application downloads, but if you want to "try your chance" at winning the prize, then keep an eye on the counter on Thursday and Friday.
