Cydia 1.1 available soon. A new version of Winterboard is about to be released.

Today saurik officially launched Cydia Theme Center, a new section in Cydia from which we will be able to download the best themes available for iDevices. For this release, saurik wrote a small introduction explaining how Cydia Theme Center works and what we should expect from this section in the future. Among his explanations are some references to Cydia 1.1, a new version of Cydia whose release is imminent, according to what saurik specified.

However, Cydia 1.1, whose release is imminent, provides the additional platform hooks required to allow nominations directly from users to us. While I have theme people, I've been promising everyone for months that as soon as Cydia 1.1 is out I'd work on a next major release of Winterboard.

Cydia 1.1 will certainly bring a system through which users will propose themes that would be listed in the Cydia Theme Center, but this is only one of the novelties. Although saurik did not mention what improvements Cydia 1.1 will bring, we will probably have a slightly faster version of the application installed on millions of terminals and maybe we will witness a change in the design of the entire system. It is possible that version 1.1 will bring some new functions, but we will find out more only after the official launch.

After the release of Cydia 1.1 saurik will start work on a new version of Winterboard - the application through which themes for iDevices can be installed and used.
