Motorola Xoom available for pre-order for $1199

Motorola Xoom, the Android flagship in the battle with the iPad, will cost $1199.99 in the US at retailer Best Buy. In comparison, the cheapest iPad Wi-Fi only tablet costs $499 and the cheapest iPad 3G tablet costs $629. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the launch of this tablet and they probably really wanted to buy it, but considering that it costs $1200, that is almost twice as much as an iPad 3G tablet, I have the impression that we will witness a big "fail" from on the part of Motorola. The Samsung Galaxy Tab was initially announced with a price of over $1000, but in the end it ended up being a bit cheaper, I don't know if things will be the same with the Motorola Xoom, but at the moment it doesn't present itself as a rival for iPad.

In the USA, the tablet would also be available from operators who will of course offer it at subsidized prices but with expensive subscriptions, so in the end the tablet will cost too much. I don't know how the people from Motorola thought about the whole launch, but at the moment things don't look too great. The tablet is disposable for pre-order from Best Buy starting February 17.

UPDATED: The price displayed by Best Buy could be preliminary. Those from Engadget I support that the real price of the tablet could be $800.
