The AppStore generates the highest revenues among all online application stores

The IHS company did a study for 4 of the most important online application stores in the world and listed their revenues for the last two years, listed the market share of each plus the growth registered in the last year. In 2010, Apple's AppStore registered revenues of 1.782 billion dollars, more than 1 billion dollars more than last year, also having an increase of 131.9%. Apple didn't have the biggest growth of all the companies, but it produced 6 times more money than all the others combined. Google Android Market recorded revenues of 102 million dollars last year ranking last on the list, Nokia Ovistore generated only 3 million dollars more than Android Market and BlackBerry App World ranked 2nd with 165% million of dollars.

In terms of market share, Apple has lost almost 10 percent of the share held in 2009, with Google, Nokia and RIM sharing the same share. Each of the companies registered increases of just over 3 percent, BlackBerry having the highest percentage share of only 7.7%. In the current situation, it is hard to imagine that any Apple application store will ever come close to the revenues of those from Apple, but it is good that there is competition in this segment and next year we will have Windows Marketplace included in the study.
