The front camera in the iPad 2 generates problems when making video calls via FaceTime

In addition to the problems with the screen that almost all iPad 2 tablet owners report, there are also some problems related to the FaceTime application and the tablet's front camera. As in the case of the iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4G, the front camera of the iPad 2 tablet is used to make video calls using the FaceTime function, but for some owners the camera freezes when a call is initiated. On discussion forums of Apple, several threads have appeared in which many users complain that they cannot make FaceTime calls with their own tablets because the image freezes when the call is initiated/accepted.

Facetime was frozen on iPad 2. It had the last video capture as the main screen of Facetime. Could not see receiving video. Resolution: Reset to factory settings. Apple - possible app glitch.

I had this problem on my iPad 2 as well. I restored the iPad and it was fixed, but during a FaceTime call I switched to the back camera and it froze the video on both ends of the call (but NOT the local video / video of me on my end and video of them on their end).

For some, resetting the tablet helps to solve the problem, for others, reopening the application solves everything, but unfortunately many report the exact same problem with the camera blocking. Apple released a new version of the FaceTime application for Mac yesterday, the new application significantly improving the quality of video calls made on Macs. iOS 4.3.1 is expect in the next 2 weeks and it is possible that one of the novelties consists in solving the bugs with the FaceTime application on the iPad 2.
