Death Rally is a new race/fighting game released last night in the AppStore. The game's gameplay boils down to racing on predefined circuits and destroying your opponents using the weapons mounted on your cars. From a graphical point of view, the game looks excellent, with a level above what we have seen in Reckless Racing or other car games released lately. From the point of view of how to control the car, unfortunately, it is one of the most ill-conceived games available in the AppStore. The car is controlled using a virtual D-Pad located on the left side of the screen, but unfortunately you don't only control the left/right movements but also the acceleration/braking ones. After a few minutes in the game I got bored and left it because it's very difficult to control the direction of the car on the circuit and destroying an opponent is out of the question if you can't keep up with them.
Death Rally is a well-built game in terms of graphics but very weak in terms of gameplay. I expected something more than that from this game and I for one am very disappointed with it. It's not worth €4 and here we're talking about a 15% reduced price. If in the future the developers would find another method to control the car, then it would certainly be worth the price. The version available in the AppStore works on both iPhone and iPad.
