Today Dev Team released redsn0w 0.9.6 RC15 which allows us to do untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The jailbreak solution uses i0n1c's untethered jailbreak exploit, which Apple is currently failing to close. The new version of redsn0w brings us the possibility to enable multitouch gestures for any of our terminals. Unfortunately, this version of redsn0w is NOT compatible with ultrasn0w, so if you jailbreak with ultrasn0w, you will NOT be able to unlock your iPhone.
If you did tethered jailbreak with this tutorial then you can calmly apply the untethered jailbreak made with redsn0w 0.9.6 RC 15 over it.
redsn0w 0.9.6 RC15 is compatible with:
- iPhone3GS
- iPhone4 (GSM)
- iPod touch 3G
- iPod touch 4G
- iPad1
- AppleTV2G (v4.3 8F202)
Step 1
Download iOS 4.3.3 for your terminal from here. Install the latest version of iTunes by here.
Step 2
Update to iOS 4.3.3 from iTunes, but ONLY if you don't need unlock. If you want to decode your iPhone, then follow this tutorial available ONLY for Mac OS X. (available immediately)
Step 3
Download redsn0w 0.9.6 rc15 from here: [download id=”130, 131″]
Step 4
Connect the terminal to the PC. open redsn0w(if you have Windows 7, I recommend using redsn0w in compatibility mode with Windows XP), press the button Browse, select the iOS 4.3.3 ipsw downloaded in step 1 and press Next. redsn0w will implement the exploit and move on to the next step.
Step 5
Here we have a multitude of options. If you only want to jailbreak, then just check the option Install Cydia and press Next. If you want to activate multitouch gestures, check also Enable multitasking gestures and if you want to activate the animated boot logo, then check it Allow Boot animation then press Next.
Step 6
Now you have to enter the phone in DFU MODE. First close the terminal, then press Next and redsn0w will show you how to enter the phone in DFU Mode.
- hold down the power button for 3 seconds;
- without letting go of the power button, press the Home button for 10 seconds;
- after the 10 seconds pass, release the Power button and the phone should already be in DFU Mode and redsn0w will start implementing the exploit.
- If everything worked and the jailbreak was implemented then you should have this image displayed in redsn0w.
Step 7
If everything goes well, you should have a jailbroken and functional iPhone.
Unfortunately, you can no longer do decoding if you have jailbroken with redsn0w.
