I have said a few days ago that Toshiba is preparing the launch of the first 4-inch screens with 720p resolution and 367 pixels per inch. Today at SID 2011, the company presented these new screens that are capable of displaying movies in 720p format at native resolution, but the great advantage lies in the number of pixels per inch, which is higher than with Retina Display. Although we are talking about a premiere in terms of HD screens for mobile terminals with a large number of pixels per inch, the problem lies in the viewing angle, which is not quite as good as some Android terminals, at least in the opinion of those from Engadget.

I think that an iPhone with such a screen would represent a great marketing blow for Apple, which could say that it has implemented the first HD screen for mobile terminals that has a number of pixels per inch higher than the human eye can see. These screens will go into production in the second half of this year, so they will probably be available in smartphones next year.
