The EU could introduce a law to protect user location data

Do you think that the location logging problem ended as soon as Apple released iOS 4.3.3? Well, it's not like that because an EU agency will propose to the governing forums the implementation of legislation to protect the information logged by Android and iOS. The data protection agency considers that the respective information must be classified as personal data and must be protected by the laws that regulate how this data can be used. The agency takes into account both phones and tablets because both are capable of locating users through GPS coordinates and providing this data to third-party applications/persons.

Since smartphones and tablet computers are inextricably linked to their owner, the movement patterns of the devices provide a very intimate insight into the private life of the owners. One of the great risks is that the owners are unaware they transmit their location, and to whom" Article 29 Working Party.

Of course, both Google and Apple tried to convince the American Senate and the European authorities that iOS is as safe as possible, but so far they have not had any success. It seems that the whole problem with location logging is treated more seriously than Google or Apple would have thought, and in the near future they may have to make important changes in iOS and Android OS.
