Infographic: Over 500.000 applications accepted in the AppStore in almost 3 years

In less than 2 months it will be 3 years since the launch of the AppStore and it seems that over 500.000 applications have been Accepted until now in it. In reality, a little under 400.000 are available in the AppStore because in these 3 years, many of the supported applications have been withdrawn by developers, removed by Apple or changed. The figure was reached a few days ago and the announcement came from several sites that deal with statistics on app downloads from the AppStore. The number is enormous, but unfortunately it is not very relevant considering that most of the applications in the AppStore are still useless. We have 400.000 applications for nothing if even 50.000 of them are not really useful.

Sometime after midnight Tuesday morning, the iTunes team pushed through a batch of app submissions that sent the total over a six-figure milestone. In 34 months, Apple has approved more than 500,000 iPhone, iPad and iPod touch apps for the company's US store. (Through attrition, replacement and withdrawal, number of apps currently available for download is 20% lower, around 400,000.)

In addition to the information about the number of applications downloaded, statistics were published about the number of developers who published applications, the number of paid/free applications and the average price of an application. 85.560 developers have published their applications in the AppStore, 37% of them are free and the average price of an application is $3.64. Games and books are on the top of AppStore downloads and Angry Birds is of course the most popular application of all time. More details can be found in the infographic below, where all the successes of the AppStore in its 3 years of life were mentioned.
