iPhone 5 with 5 or 8 megapixel camera?

There are quite a few debates about the future camera of the iPhone 5 terminal, more specifically, many wonder if it will have a 5 or 8 megapixel camera. Last night Omnivision, the supplier of image sensors for the iPhone, held a conference in which a submitted the financial results for the first fiscal quarter of 2011. During this conference, Omnivision officials announced that they will switch to the production of image sensors with 8 megapixel cameras that will be delivered to partners starting with the second half of 2011. Those from Omnivision they claim that they already have orders for this sensor and it is possible that Apple will be among the contracting companies and that the future iPhone will have an 8 megapixel camera.

If the situation stays like this, then the new iPhone will be available in the fall, considering that Omnivision is just making the transition to the new production system. A few weeks ago Omnivision a announced the launch of a new 5 megapixel image sensor capable of filming HD in 1080p format. Then we said that this sensor could be incorporated in a new iPhone and would bring the possibility of filming at a better resolution, but it will probably take pictures of the same quality as the iPhone 4. Under these conditions, what will Apple choose?

I, for one, would prefer to see an image sensor that takes both better pictures and better quality videos. Regardless of whether that camera will have 5 or 8 megapixels, the important thing is the quality and not the resolution of the picture. I don't care how many megapixels the camera will have, I just want better quality and I think Apple thinks in a similar way. The implementation of an 8 megapixel camera does not mean that the pictures will have a much better quality, it means first of all that they will have a higher resolution. The 1080p format represents the future and Apple must make an iPhone capable of filming in this format regardless of the camera.

In the end, we will soon find out what Apple decided, what do you prefer? Better quality with the same number of megapixels or more megapixels but slightly improved quality?
