Google takes things to the next level and starts offering users a new service called Live Transit Updates which gives them the opportunity to find out if the bus they are waiting for will be late or not. Owners of Android terminals will have access to information from the Maps application from their own terminal, but users of iDevices will be able to access this information through Safari by accessing maps.google.com. In Google's web application, users will be able to check the bus station they are in and see if a particular bus is late or not and when it is estimated to arrive at that station. Of course, information is also displayed about the times at which the bus should leave from that station, so we can know exactly when to get ready and leave home.

Starting now, Google Maps for mobile and desktop can tell you when your ride is actually going to arrive with new live transit updates. We partnered with transit agencies to integrate live transit data in four US cities and two European cities: Boston, Portland, Ore., San Diego, San Francisco, Madrid and Turin. When you click on a transit station or plan a transit route with Google Maps and there are delays or alerts related to your trip, you'll now see "live departure times" (indicated with a special icon) and service alerts.

The bad part is that Google will use this service in only a few cities in the US and 2 in Europe, Romania being of course excluded. Romania will probably never have such a service integrated into Google maps or any other application of this kind. More cities will be added in the near future so if you end up traveling through certain European cities you will also know when and how the buses arrive.
