iOS app developers could make widgets for Notifications Center

Notifications Center is the new interface implemented by Apple in iOS 5 that allows us to see all the notifications sent by our applications in a new and useful format. The new notification center displays 2 widgets for 2 native applications: Stocks and Weather. Those 2 widgets display real-time information about the American stock market and the weather for our location. After some investigations made through the system files of iOS 5 it was discovered that application developers could have the possibility to make widgets even for their own applications, widgets that will of course be displayed in the Notifications Center.

We heard rumors indicating that iOS 5 will bring a new system of widgets, and this could be the one in the Notifications Center. Practically, developers could make this widgets and through them they could display information in real time for news applications, messaging applications, etc. Even if the widgets cannot be displayed directly in Springboard, I think there are many people who would like to have them at least in the Notifications Center, but everything depends on Apple. If the native applications are capable of this, then it will certainly be possible to make widgets by application developers and tweaks for Cydia.

UPDATED: It seems that for those who have jailbroken there will soon be a method to install widgets for applications. A new project called Hello World came into existence today and its purpose is to facilitate the development of widgets for certain applications.
