Griffin Beacon is a new product of the famous Griffin accessories company that offers us the possibility to use the iPhone terminal instead of a classic remote control. Our iPhone connects to a Griffin accessory using Bluetooth technology and through an application called Dijit we can control an extremely varied range of household appliances. Televisions, DVD Players, Blu-Ray players, Apple TVs, projectors, CD Players, receivers for satellite dishes, practically almost every kind of electrical appliance available in our house. Our terminal connects via Bluetooth to the accessory from Griffin and the accessory sends commands via infrared to each individual device depending on the model and remote control chosen by us.

Your entertainment system expects a remote control to speak to it via infrared signals. Your iOS device speaks Bluetooth. Beacon acts as a bridge between them. Imagine being able to control your TV or stereo using your always-handy iPhone. Or your iPod touch. Or your iPad. Beacon pairs with your iOS device via Bluetooth and works with Dijit's Universal Remote App to put complete control of your home entertainment center in the palm of your hand. There are no bulky cases or dongles, no wires or cables. Control your home entertainment system using the Universal Remote App on your Multi-Touch display.

Griffin Beacon is a very simple way to control everything in your home, but the price of the product is $80, so it is not accessible to anyone in Romania. I'm tempted to buy such a device, so I'm curious if anyone has tried a similar product and how satisfied they are with the purchase.
