One of the biggest problems of Safari in iOS is loading web pages and unfortunately Android has long surpassed iOS in this regard, but even IE9 in Windows Phone 7 loads pages faster than Safari in iOS. The video clip above was published in April and shows us how IE 9 from Windows Phone 7 has better performance in a fast reading test done in HTML 5. Then Safari from iOS 4 had extremely poor performance, somewhere in around 2 FPS compared to 26 as IE 9 had on Windows Phone 7 and the blame was given to the fact that the resolution of the iPhone 4 terminal is much higher than that of the Windows Phone terminal and affects performance.

In iOS 5 things change completely because the native browser runs the same test much better with better performance than the Microsoft browser. Now on iPhone 4 I managed to get 31FPS compared to 26 that IE 9 gets, so an increase of almost 30% for Apple. Safari from iOS 5 loads pages faster than Safari from iOS 4 and it seems that Apple has worked a lot on perfecting compatibility with HTML 5, so it is possible that from the fall the disadvantage of Safari compared to the other browsers will be non-existent.
