Apple gives up the distribution of many software programs in stores

An operation that started a few months ago in Apple stores in the US is taking shape again today when the company announced to the managers of its own stores that a series of software programs will no longer be sold directly in the stores. We are talking about important programs already available in the Mac App Store for a long time, but which were also available in physical packages in Apple stores. Since everything is available online and program packages are no more than 1/2 GB, Apple decided to stop selling them in stores in DVD packages.

You can find the list of programs below and since they will be available exclusively in the Mac App Store, the price will be considerably reduced. Programs that are not included in this list will of course still be available in Apple stores.

  • Mac OS X Snow Leopard
  • Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server
  • iLife
  • iWork
  • Aperture
  • Apple Remote Desktop
  • xsan
  • GarageBand Jam Packs
  • Mac Box Set
