Apple collects two thirds of the profit generated by the sales of mobile phones

Today the data on the sales of mobile phones and smartphones for Q2 2011 were published and we learned that Apple is the biggest seller of smartphones and ranks on the 3rd place in the top of the biggest sellers of mobile phones. Apple recorded a significant increase in sales, but how did the company manage in terms of profit? Although it sold only 20 million smartphones, Apple he cashed 66.3% of the profit generated by the sales of mobile phones globally, i.e. 6 out of 10 dollars collected as profit went to the Apple company.

This share is up from 57% in Q1 and 50% in Q3 and Q4. Samsung's share went to 15%, although that's not a peak level historically. In Q1 2008 the company was at 21%. RIM was at 11%, a level in a range that has been unchanged for three years. Finally, HTC captured 7.4%, a new high and an increase from 6% since last quarter.

The figure is impressive for Apple considering that in Q1 it collected "only" 57% of the profit and now it has taken two thirds. Samsung rose to 15% of profit and Nokia seems to be losing money according to the data presented by Asymco. Basically, Apple is a company that on the global mobile phone market cannot be called an extremely important player based on mobile phone deliveries, but when it comes to the financial side, the company from Cupertino earns more money than RIM, HTC, Samsung and Nokia together.

For Apple, the profit generated by its products is what matters, and you can see that no matter how popular products like the Samsung Galaxy S II are, Apple wins in the end where it matters the most, the financial part.
