You know very well that Winterboard does not work 100% correctly on iOS 5, for now saurik has not shown interest in solving this problem and will not show interest until iOS 5 is officially released in iTunes. Even in these conditions, there are developers of applications and tweaks that are interested in the community of iDevice users, so for Winterboard a method has recently appeared to solve the problem of incompatibility with iOS 5. The method explained below only works on terminals that have jailbreak done but which also have SBSettings already installed.
Assuming you meet the 2 essential conditions, follow the steps below to install a patch that resolves the incompatibility issues between Winterboard and iOS 5.
- Install from Cydia Winterboard and the Pincrush dependency in your terminals. After installing this tweak you have to reset the device but be careful because you have to boot tethered.
- After the terminal restarts, use SBSettings to start iOS in Safe Mode.
- Install winterfix from the repo: http://iphonix.myrepospace.com/.
- After installing winterfix, reset the device again and everything should work without problems.
After installing this little tweak, you shouldn't have any more problems with Winterboard on iOS 5. When saurik fixes the plugin, we won't need to resort to such tricks to use themes and tweaks with Winterboard without problems.
