Video concept: An iPhone 4 with SmartCover

The SmartCover cases launched by Apple in March use the magnets integrated in the iPad 2 but also their own magnets to lock/unlock our tablet. The system is being patented by Apple and cannot be used on any other iDevice because the iPad 2 tablet is the only one that has included magnets. However, the magnet system is not the only one capable of closing/opening the screen of an iDevice and in the clip above we have a demonstration of how the SmartCover concept could be brought to the iPhone as well.

The demonstration above based on the fact that the VoiceKeys tweak keep the proximity sensor active in the Messages application and when the case is closed, the screen is automatically closed. Unfortunately, the terminal does not lock, it remains active but with the screen closed, just like when we make a voice call. Practically using the proximity sensor we could close the terminal screen in any application, but to do this the sensor must be kept active all the time. A tweak would definitely solve this problem, but how useful would the system be?

I wouldn't mind having an iPhone case that would unlock it when I open it, but keeping the terminal active all the time and only with the screen closed doesn't seem like a good idea to me. For now, everything remains at the idea stage, but surely there is a developer who will make a tweak that will keep the sensor open all the time.
