Apple could release iPhone terminals with curved screens next year

The Apple company implemented curved screens in the old iPod terminal models and could do exactly the same thing with the iPhone terminal line. Those from DigiTimes supports that Apple's partners would have received from the Cupertino company new glass polishing machines that help in the process of bending it. 3 partner companies of Apple would be involved in the project carried out by the company from Cupertino, a project that could bring us next year iPhone terminals with a curved screen and maybe even iPad tablets or iPod Touches.

Curved cover glass may be the next big thing in terms of handheld device designs as both Apple and the non-Apple camp are reportedly gearing up for the releases of products with curved touchscreens in the first half of 2012, according to industry sources. Suppliers of the non-Apple camp are working on products with curved cover glass in attempts to gain a competitive edge in the handheld device market dominated by Apple, sources in the glass industry said. But Apple reportedly also bought glass polishing equipment for its suppliers in preparation for the production of devices fitted with curved cover glass. Lens Technology, Fuji Crystal, G-Tech are said to be major cover glass suppliers of Apple. While Lens and Fuji focus on iPhones, G-Tech supplies mainly for iPad.

In the past months it was rumored that Apple could launch an iPhone 5 terminal with a curved screen, but things are completely different, the terminal will have the same screen as before. Next year things could still be different if the company's prototypes prove to be functional, but I for one would not have high hopes regarding the implementation of such a screen in iPhone terminals. Google Nexus S is one of the most popular terminals with curved screens and so far no one has complained about its utility and other smartphone manufacturers are thinking of using the same technology in future creations.
