Tonight Apple has officially released iTunes 10.5, a version of the program that brings a lot of news, but among them I would like to highlight Wi-Fi Sync, which I know many of you are waiting for. The new iOS 5, which will be released tomorrow, together with iTunes 10.5 bring the possibility to synchronize our terminals via Wi-Fi directly with the iTunes program on the computer. In practice, you must have iTunes 10.5 installed to update to iOS 5, but as soon as you install it and update, you will see in the main menu of the program that in the Options section you have the option Sync over Wi-Fi connection.

To activate the possibility of wirelessly synchronizing our device with iTunes, we just have to select the synchronization option from the program's main menu and press the Sync button. In the terminal, in Settings>General>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, we have the option to synchronize the device with iTunes and whenever we want to do such a synchronization, we just have to press the Sync button. During synchronization, you will notice a new icon in the status bar on your iDevice, and as long as that icon is active, your device will synchronize.

Synchronization with iTunes is done automatically as soon as iTunes is opened and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iDevice, the key point being that both must be on the same network. Synchronization via Wi-Fi is slightly slower than via cable, but I for one am happy that Apple has finally implemented this option. As I said above, you cannot sync an iDevice with iTunes via Wi-Fi unless you have iOS 5 installed.
