Apple launches the Find My Friends application in the App Store

A few minutes ago, Apple launched the Find My Friends application in the App Store, which was presented at the conference on October 4. Find My Friends is a concept similar to Google Latitude, that is, an application through which we can discover which of our friends are near our location. In the image above we have a short demonstration of how the application works and notice that on the map are shown friends who are at a certain distance from the location where we are.

Find My Friends allows you to easily locate your friends and family from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Install this free app on your iOS 5 device and sign in with the Apple ID you use with iCloud. Adding a friend is easy – just send a request to see their location. Once your friend accepts using the Find My Friends app, you will then be able to see that friend's location on a map. You can also choose to share your location for a limited period of time with a group of friends. Use Find My Friends to keep track of your traveling companions when you're on vacation. Or to see if the kids are home from school. Or to find the friends you're meeting for dinner.

Find My Friends works like Game Center, that is, we have to manually add friends with whom we want to share our location and they have the opportunity to choose whether they want to share their location with us or not. When we publicly announce our location through Find My Friends, it will only be temporarily displayed for all our friends, the limitation being implemented by Apple in order to protect iDevice owners. Find My Friends is available for free in the App Store for any iDevice.

To install the Find My Friends application go to icloud.com from our iDevice or following this link.
