Samsung Galaxy Nexus designed not to infringe Apple's patents

Yesterday the companies Samsung and Google presented to the whole world the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the first terminal running the new version of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Shortly after the official presentation, Shin Jong-kyun, head of Samsung's mobile terminal division, stated that the new terminal was specially designed not to infringe Apple's patents. The two companies have thought of the smartphone in such a way that it does not copy the design elements of the iPhones, but it remains to be seen if the Android made by Google does not infringe any patent.

Now we will avoid everything we can and take patents very seriously. We will see if (the Galaxy Nexus) will be 100 percent free from Apple lawsuits. I don't think there is much gain (from lawsuits against Apple). What we are losing is the pride in our brand.

Although Shin Jong-kyun declares that there is not much to gain from lawsuits against Apple, the Korean company is still trying to block sales of the iPhone 4S terminal in various countries around the world. Apple managed to block the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Germany and Australia, but also the sales of some Galaxy smartphones in the Netherlands. The Samsung company was denied a request to ban the sale of smartphones in the Netherlands and in the USA the ITC decided that Samsung infringes Apple's patents but refused to ban their sale.

It seems that the legal battles with Apple have taught the people from Samsung to stop stealing, at least when they work for Google.
