Amazon Kindle Fire registers more interest than iPad before the launch

In 2010 Apple launched the iPad tablet, the first truly interesting tablet for consumers. Then the market analysis company called Changewave did a study among 3200 Americans wanting to find out how many will buy the tablet. Then 4% of the respondents said that there are very high chances of buying an iPad tablet, while 9% said that there are somewhat good chances that the tablet will be the next product purchased.

This year the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet will be launched and it is by far the most interesting Android tablet for consumers. Changewave Company redid the study but on only 2600 respondents and found out that 5% of them have already made a pre-order and claim that there are high chances to buy the tablet, while 12% of the respondents say that they have some interest in buying the tablet. American analysts say that the Kindle Fire tablet generates more interest than the iPad upon launch, but the truth is that things are completely different. Although the tables above show that the Kindle Fire tablet has an advantage, in reality the study for Amazon's tablet was done on only 2600 respondents, 600 fewer than in the case of the iPad.

Tablet contenders (Xoom, Galaxy Tab, PlayBook, etc) have failed to gain appreciable traction against iPad's est. 67% share, and iPad 2 should be a popular holiday purchase. However, strong early Fire uptake seems likely, raising speculation Apple now faces a real tablet contender. Survey data says 26% of likely Fire buyers (ie of the 5%) say they will delay/put on hold iPad buying. Sustained Fire uptake and 'buzz' will depend on consumer/reviewer reactions to Fire's user experience.

Considering the difference above, the advantage of the Kindle Fire evaporates a bit because 600 respondents represent over 30% of the total number of people who answered the survey made for it. In conclusion, the Kindle Fire is a tablet that will sell well, it's an interesting tablet, but whether it will surpass the iPad in sales or not, we will find out only after it is brought to the stores. The good part is that Apple may finally have competition for the iPad tablet, it remains to be seen how strong this competition will be.
