Nokia and IBM have licensed part of the scrolling system in iOS

This year, Apple announced that it had licensed some of Nokia's invention patents, but that it had offered the same company some of its patents for licensing. Well now we know one of the patents offered for licensing, but also the fact that IBM also licensed it, but Samsung refused. Apple has licensed to Nokia and IBM the patent for the system that displays a background in a web page when we reach its edge. This system was also offered to Samsung in 2010 when Apple tried to resolve disputes regarding patents, but Samsung categorically refused.

Of course, Apple could have licensed more technologies to other companies, although it stated that the essential technologies for iOS were kept to give the operating system distinctiveness. Apple sued Samsung, Nokia and HTC for infringing this patent, but so far it has not managed to convince any court to prohibit the sale of any products because of it. Since Apple has licensed the technology, it is clear that it is not essential for the company or iOS, but probably in exchange, an equally good or maybe even better technology was obtained.
