SMS turned 19 years old.

On December 3, 1992 has been sent the first SMS message in history from a computer to a phone that was used on the Vodafone mobile network. Orbitel 901 was the phone model that received the first SMS message officially sent on the network of a mobile operator and yesterday it was 19 years since that date. The technology itself is still a bit older because it was invented in 1984 by Friedhelm Hillebrand and Bernard Ghillebaert, but only after a few years it came to be used in mobile phones.

Nowadays, SMS are on the way to extinction because all kinds of applications for mobile terminals allow users to converse using simple text messages sent over the Internet, but everything started from that SMS message.
