200 applications generate half of the profits of the App Store for iPhone and the top 10 best applications of 2011

For Apple, the Chinese market is extremely important because a good part of the company's revenue is generated there. We are not only talking about actual sales of products, but also about purchases from the App Store, because almost as many applications are downloaded from China as from the US, when we talk about the iPad tablet. In the case of downloads made on iPhone terminals, the difference is greater, but if we look at the combined figures, we notice that the USA and China are separated by only a few percent, and for Apple the increase in downloads from China means an important increase in revenue.

The information is coming from Distimo company which also announces that half of the profit of the App Store for the iPhone is generated by 200 free applications which, through the freemium model, generate very good profit for developers. In-app purchases are the ones that bring good money for Apple and the figures from Distimo speak for themselves. The company has also made a list in which it lists the best applications of 2011 and the first place is of course Angry Birds, which is available on many platforms and generates serious profit for its producers. It is interesting that in this top 10 there is no application that is available on all important mobile platforms.
