Apple activated at least 12 times more iDevices during the holidays, surpassing Android activations

The period of the winter holidays is extremely profitable for Apple because people buy a lot of the company's products. Between December 23 and 26, Apple activated on average more than 12 times more iDevices than normal and the graph above shows us information from several locations around the globe. In the USA and Germany, Apple passed the activations for Android OS without problems, but in South Korea and Sweden, things were completely different. Of course, the differences in sales between the USA/Germany and South Korea/Sweden are enormous and in the end Apple activated 12.5 times more terminals than normal and Google 12 times more Android terminals.

Apple iOS and Android devices were apparently popular gifts worldwide over the holiday weekend, with the number of new devices seen by Localytics over 12 times higher than previous weekends. Global growth in the two competing platforms was virtually tied, but with strong regional differences across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

The information comes from the company Localytics which analyzes over 200 million terminals from all over the world. The data were collected from applications available for the iOS and Android OS platforms, and the sales recorded by Apple and Android terminal manufacturers are truly impressive. It is extremely impressive that Apple alone managed to activate more terminals than all Android terminal manufacturers combined, and this says a lot about the popularity of iDevices.

Below is a comparison of the growth recorded by both platforms in several countries around the world. The numbering is done according to the growth percentage registered by each platform in the respective country.
