The new smartphones of course run Android OS, the only platform for which Intel has developed its processors for now. The presentation at CES 2012 aims to demonstrate the power of the new Atom Medfield processors with which Intel will try to enter the mobile terminal market in 2012, where ARM is currently the leader.

Those from Intel presented the way in which the smartphone is capable of running games, playing video content, browsing and everything goes as well as possible. Intel claims that it has very energy-efficient processors, boasting that the presented smartphones are capable of reaching a standby autonomy of 14 hours, 8 hours of 3G calls, 6 hours of playing multimedia content in 1080p format, 5 hours of web browsing via 3G and 45 hours of listening to songs. The performances of the Intel Atom Medfield processors are impressive, but it remains to be seen how many smartphone manufacturers will be willing to use them.
