During the conference for the presentation of the financial results for Q1 2012 Apple announced that over 4 billion dollars were paid to the developers of applications for the iOS platform. The figure is enormous if we take into account the fact that the application store will only be 4 years old in the summer of this year, so after 3 and a half years of the App Store, more than 4 billion dollars have been paid to developers and by the summer the figure could to exceed the value of 5 billion dollars. The App Store is currently the largest and most profitable application store for mobile terminals.
Although lately it has been circulating that more and more iOS application developers are choosing the Android platform, the truth is that Google's Android Market does not offer the same opportunities for business development. In the Android Market, few people buy and quite a few click on the banners in the applications, so for now the App Store remains the best alternative for a developer looking for success.
