Zeppelin is definitely one of the most popular tweaks with which we can modify a Carrier Logo for the iOS of our iDevices. In recent weeks, various Carrier Logos have appeared in Cydia, but you don't have to depend on those made by others, because you can do the exact same thing yourself without too much effort. First you have to choose the pictures you want to see displayed instead of the Carrier Logo in iOS and then you have to look for a program to edit pictures. For Windows there are extremely many programs of this kind, the list for Mac is a bit more limited but you have plenty to choose from.
After you have chosen the program with which you edit the pictures, you will have to remember the following things:
- photos for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G must have the format 60 x 20 pixels, otherwise they will not be displayed;
- the photos for iPhone 4/4S and iPod Touch 4G must have the format 120 x 40 pixels and 72 dpi to be displayed correctly. In the case of these images, you must also add the @2x code in the name of the image, i.e.: idevice@2x.png to display them in Retina format on terminals with Retina Display.
- Zeppelin forces you to make 3 separate images that are displayed in 3 separate states of the iDevice:
- black(@2x).png – this image is displayed in LockScreen and in Springboard, so you must modify the image to display it correctly on a black background;
- etched(@2x).png – the name of the picture that will be displayed in the Notifications Center, so you must choose an image that will be displayed on a gray background;
- silver(@2x).png – the name of the image that is displayed when you navigate through the settings menu or through other native iOS applications.
It is very important that the names of the pictures are the ones presented by me above, otherwise Zeppelin will not recognize them. Put @2x only if you have a Retina Display. You can put Retina and non-Retina pictures in the same folder, it is important to name them correctly otherwise they will not be displayed.
After you have taken the pictures, make a folder where you will copy them all. The name of the folder will be the name under which Zeppelin will display the theme in the Settings menu in iOS.
After choosing the name of the folder, connect your iDevice to a computer and open the program with which you normally copy files to the iOS filesystem. ifunbox for Windows and iExplorer for Mac are excellent alternatives. Now navigate to /Library/Zeppelin and copy the folder with the pictures then in the iDevice go to Settings>Zeppelin>Theme and choose the theme made by you then you will see the Carrier Logos displayed.
If you followed the steps correctly then you should now have a Carrier Logo made by you. If the method is too complicated for you, then you always have the option to install logo packs from Cydia and one for Romanian operators plus the iDevice logo you have here.
