Apple is working on a method to solve the security problem of photos and movies in iOS

Last night I told you that iOS applications that request permission to access your location information can also access your terminal's photo library. In reality, the user's permission is not even needed to access that photo library, application developers having access to APIs that allow them to access everything without asking for location permissions. Apple knows about the problem and sources inside the company claim that it is a security bug that the company inted to fix it in a new version of iOS.

According to the people we talked to, Apple has been made aware of the issue and is likely planning a fix with an upcoming release of iOS. Those sources also confirmed that the ability to send your photos and videos to a third-party is an error, not an intended feature. If we had to guess, the fix will likely come alongside a patch for Apple's other recent security issue — the ability for apps to upload your address book information without warning.

This is not the only problem that Apple has to solve in a new version of iOS because a few weeks ago the company promised that it will solve the problems that allowed developers to access the contact book and the California Attorney General convinced the company to sign an agreement by which it undertakes to solve the problems. iOS 5.1 will bring a lot of news regarding security and permissions to access various locations in iOS, now it remains to be seen how Apple will think about everything.
