The US Senate asks the FTC to investigate Apple and Google over app security issues

Last week the New York Times told the whole world that applications for iOS si AndroidOS they can steal our pictures without us knowing, but this was known to many people for a long time. The American Senate seemed not to be informed so that one of its members sent a letter to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) asking it to check the security issues of iOS and Android OS. This is not the first time that members of the American legislative body intervene in such a problem because The US Congress demanded to the Apple company to explain why applications can take over the entire contact book without notifying us.

In his letter, Schumer (D-NY) asked the FTC "to investigate a disturbing and potentially unfair practice in the smartphone application market," referring to New York Times reports saying apps on the smartphones can access the data without the owner's knowledge. "When someone takes a private photo, on a private cell phone, it should remain just that: private," Schumer said. "It sends shivers up the spine to think that one's personal photos, address book, and who-knows-what-else can be obtained and even posted online - without consent."

At first glance, the news is uninteresting for Romania, but it will force Apple to speed up the process of solving problems in iOS. Basically, only the Americans "pull" on Apple to solve the problems in iOS, but the whole world will benefit from the implementation of some changes in the security system, but it remains to be seen what exactly Apple will decide to block and what it will leave free.
