iPad 3 will have 1 GB of RAM according to a screenshot more than a month old

iPad 3 1 GB RAM

More than a month ago, the people from BGR published some screenshots that gave us, for the first time, to understand the fact that the iPad 3 will not have a quad-core processor. Unfortunately, many did not notice in those screenshots the fact that we had a first confirmation for the implementation of 1 GB of RAM in the iPad 3/HD tablet. The last line of code in the screenshot PROVE the fact that the prototype presented then had 1 GB of RAM and everything is done through a simple mathematical calculation: the 244276 free pages are multiplied by 4096 bytes (the space of a page) and the result is 1,000,554,496 bytes or 1 GB of RAM.

It's been in plain sight since the beginning of February when BGR posted their exclusive photos of debug output from an iPad 3 development unit. The (full) last line says:

vm_page_bootstrap: 244276 free pages and 8396 wired pages

244,276 (pages) x 4,096 bytes (size of a page) = 1,000,554,496 bytes = 1GB (rounded)

The demonstration is simple, now it remains to be seen if the product presented by Apple on stage is the same as the one in the pictures. Last night the people from TheVerge tried to make us understand that this is true.
