315 million iDevices were sold between the summer of 2007 and the end of 2011. 172 of them were sold in 2011 alone and a fifth of them were sold in Q4 2011 alone. Practically the fourth fiscal quarter of the year 2011 was undoubtedly the best in the history of the Apple company and Tim Cook wanted to specify this during the presentation conference of the iPad 3. Apple sold more than 37 million iPhones, more than 15 million iPads and almost 10 million iPods in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2011 alone.
What will happen in 2012? We will probably witness new sales records, but they will come towards the end of the year when the iPhone 5 or the new iPhone will be released.
