Tutorial: Install iPhoto on any iDevice with iOS 5.1 without jailbreaking

iPhoto iOS

Last week, Apple launched the iPhoto application in the App Store and brought users a powerful utility for editing any photos directly from their own terminal. Unfortunately, the iPhoto application does not work on iPad 1, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G because these devices do not have a front camera available, but even iPod Touch 4G cannot run the application and is not part of that list. Apple restrictions aside, here's how you can install iPhoto on your iDevice without jailbreaking and without worrying that you spent your money for nothing.

In order for the procedure to work, you must have iOS 5.1 installed, otherwise everything is in vain and I tell you this from experience because I tried the process on iOS 5.0.1.

  1. Buy it iPhoto from the App Store. Look for the application in the list of applications available in your iTunes, right-click on it and select Show in Finder/Explorer.
  2. Download iPhone Configuration Utility Here: Windows, Mac OS X.
  3. Install the program, open it, go to the tab Applications and drag & drop the iPhoto application there.
  4. Connect your iDevice to the computer, select it from the menu iPhone Configuration utilities, then choose the tab Applications from the upper right central part, look for the iPhoto application in the list and press the button install.

The installation will take a few minutes, but after its completion you should have the application in your iDevice and you should be able to use it without problems.
