iH8sn0w discovered a method to downgrade from iOS 5.1 to 5.0.1!

I told you a few weeks ago that the release of iOS 5.1 brings for owners of iDevices with A5 chip (iPad 2, iPhone 4S) the impossibility of restoring to iOS 5.0.1 even if you have a SHSH saved for that version of the system of operation. Unfortunately, Apple implemented a new restore system in iOS 5 and although on iDevices released before iPad 2 the restore to any version of iOS is possible with SHSHs, for new devices this is impossible, but things might change soon thanks to iH8sn0w.

The Canadian hacker discovered an exploit in the iOS restore system and claims that he managed to downgrade from iOS 5.1 to 5.0.1 on an iPad 2 tablet using SHSH. Moreover, he claims that we will be able to do exactly the same thing on the iPad 3 tablet as soon as iOS 5.1.1/5.2 will be available to us. iH8sn0w did not specify which exploit he used, but he will continue to test the system and will probably publish a method by which we will all be able to restore to iOS 5.0.1 with an SHSH saved in Cydia. Although iH8sn0w did not mention this, it is unlikely that his method would work without an SHSH.
