Google is focused on the segment of small and cheap tablets

The new cheap quad core tablet developed by Google could look exactly like the image above and Google says that the small and cheap tablet market is the one they are focusing on now. Yesterday the company presented the financial results for Q1 2012 and its CEO stated that at the moment there is a lot of room for development in the market segment for tablets with 7-inch screens. The people from Google are building a tablet with such a screen, but it will have a quad core processor and a very low price, all thought this way because for now no one can compete with the iPad tablet in the high-end segment.

I think there's a number of Android tablets out there and obviously, we have strong competition there as well. Obviously, there's been a lot of success on some lower-priced tablets that run Android, maybe not the full Google version of Android. But we definitely believe that there's going to be a lot of success at the lower end of the market as well as with lower-priced products that will be very significant. And it's definitely an area we think is important and we're quite focused on.

It seems that not only Google understood that the iPad tablet cannot be surpassed at the moment because Amazon took the first step last year when it launched the first 7-inch tablet that was worth buying because it cost $200 and offered a lot. Those from Samsung are following in their footsteps and the Galaxy Tab 2 with a 7-inch screen could cost $250, but Google could spoil their plans with an even cheaper tablet. If the manufacturers of Android tablets choose the lower segment, Apple remains the leader in the medium and high-end, but it remains to be seen how long it will be able to maintain its supremacy.

I think that in the coming years the iPad will lose supremacy on the tablet market, but I don't think that any manufacturer will succeed in surpassing Apple in terms of the number of tablets sold.
