Although Apple has not officially confirmed or denied the news, It seems that 10.000 applications would be available in its Mac App Store. This virtual application store was made especially for the Mac OS X platform at the beginning of 2011 and now, more than 1 year later, it hosts an impressive number of applications. In the iOS App Store there are 600.000 applications and 200.000 of them are specially made for the iPad tablet, but in the case of the App Store for Macs the number is much much smaller.
It is normal for there to be such a big difference considering that there are fewer Mac owners and in general the applications have higher prices than in the App Store for iOS. Of course, things will change in the future, the number of applications will increase and probably exceed the number of applications of some popular App Stores, but for smartphones.
