Google buys QuickOffice

QuickOffice is one of the best office suites for mobile terminals, the company's applications with the same name being bought by hundreds of thousands of users around the world. The applications are so good that Google couldn't overlook them, so they bought the company that produces them. In an article published today on their own blog, those from Google announced the purchase and claim that the functionality of the applications will be integrated into the company's web applications.

We are happy to announce that we have acquired Quickoffice, a leader in office productivity solutions. Today, consumers, businesses and schools use Google Apps to get stuff done from anywhere, with anyone and on any device. Quickoffice has an established track record of enabling seamless interoperability with popular file formats, and we'll be working on bringing their powerful technology to our Apps product suite. Quickoffice has a strong base of users, and we look forward to supporting them while we work on an even more seamless, intuitive and integrated experience.

To be honest, I expect Google to make it so that only Android can benefit from certain functions through the QuickOffice suite, and I think that this purchase will prove to be detrimental to iDevice owners in the future.
