Here's how you can reactivate the 3G connection on an iPhone with iOS 6 installed

In the last few days, I have seen that many owners of iPhone 4S terminals complain that their devices do not work on 3G networks after an update to the new iOS 6. The problem seems to be related to a backup installed after restoring to iOS 6, but also to the new set of functions implemented by Apple. In practice, in iOS 6 we no longer have the toggle that allows us to disable 3G connectivity on our terminals, and if you updated from iOS 5 and restored a backup in which you had 3G connectivity disabled, there is a chance that your iPhone 4S not to connect to 3G networks.

To solve this problem, there are some simple solutions, but also a more complicated one. For starters, you can make a Reset Network Settings from Settings>General>Reset. If this method does not work, then from the same menu you can delete all settings using the option Erase All Content and Settings, but using this option you will delete all the content from your devices. If this does not solve the problem, then you can try to restore to iOS 6 and not restore the previous backup on your device and 3G should be active.

In the end, the "desperate" solution remains for those who did not find the above indications useful, or for those who need a backup:

  1. Restore to iOS 5.1.1 directly from iTunes or using this tutorial.
  2. If you restore a backup, then activate from Settings>General Network 3G connectivity and save the backup in iTunes.
  3. Restore to iOS 6, if you want, restore the backup, and the terminal should work on 3G networks.

One of the methods above should restore 3G functionality on your iPhone 4S in iOS 6. The same can be applied to any iDevice.
