SwipeMsg allows you to take various actions in the Messages application using gestures

The Messages application in iOS is simple, has an intuitive interface, some relatively useful buttons and is almost immune to gestures. The only gesture recognized by the application is the one for deleting messages, but apart from that you will not be able to use others. For those who want to use gestures in the Messages application, there is now a tweak SwipeMsg which allows us to take some simple actions without much effort. Using this tweak and gestures with 2/3 fingers we can show/hide the menu of people who have received our messages, we can delete an entire conversation and we can update the number of characters written in a message:

This efficient new tweak adds multiple swipe gestures to your messages app interface. These are the current swipes:

  • 2 finger left = Show recipient panel (useful for group messages)
  • 2 finger right = Hide recipient panel
  • 3 fingers left = Clear composition
  • 3 finger right = Refresh character count

This tweak works fully with SMS and iMessage.

SwipeMsg is available for $0.99 from Cydia's BigBoss repo.
