Last night Cosmote Romania and Vodafone Romania organized events for the launch iPhone 5, Cosmote only in Bucharest, Vodafone in Bucharest, Timisoara and Cluj Napoca. Last night I just arrived at the Cosmote event where I found a full shop, many people waiting to see the only iPhone 5 put on display by Cosmote (as far as I could see), enough people who wanted to receive information about the iPhone 5 but were not helped and some customers who left the store with a terminal. If last year Orange had many terminals exposed, had people who used them and explained all the novelties of the devices, there was no such thing at Cosmote and from my point of view the organization left much to be desired.
Smiley was present at the event, many people gathered to see him, few had come to buy an iPhone 5, the feeling of an important event was missing, but the location was not suitable for such a thing either. Vodafone, on the other hand, had a better organized event, in a much larger space and of course more people were present. Orange chose not to hold an event, it was the only operator that did not iPhone 5 on sale from 0:00, but I don't think this has affected them or will affect them in any way.
Making a comparison with the iPhone 5 launch at the Apple Store, which I attended... if in Romania over half of those present in the stores were bloggers or journalists invited by the operators, in the USA over 90% were customers who had come to buy something. I don't think I need to say anything more about the informational materials related to the product or the attention the employees gave you.
At the moment, Orange, Cosmote and Vodafone stores throughout the country sell the iPhone 5.
