Facebook is the most used social network in the world, over 1 billion people use it monthly, according to statistics published by the company. Although those from Facebook do not publicly detail the number of users of its applications, those from TechCrunch found out that monthly 147 million iPhones, 192 million Android terminals and 48 million iPad tablets use the applications from App Store si Google Play. To these figures are added others for the mobile version of the website, for the dedicated applications BlackBerry OS, Symbian or Windows Phone, in total over 600 million users accessing Facebook from mobile terminals.
As of September 2011, Facebook for Android had 66 million MAU and Facebook for iPhone had 91 million MAU. In December 2011 right before Facebook stopped openly publishing stats, Android surpassed the iOS app. By just 11 months later in November 2012, Android had grown to 192.8 million MAU while iPhone only had 147.2 million MAU.
Practically more than half of the users who use Facebook monthly do so from mobile terminals and this says a lot about the way users access their accounts.
