The App Store registers, on average, more than 50 million unique downloads daily

Today Apple announced that its App Store has recorded over 40 billion downloads from the establishment until now, 20 billion of them being registered only in 2012. Those from Asymco they did a short calculation regarding the number of applications/songs/books downloaded daily and notice that every day, on average, a little over 50 million applications are downloaded in the App Store. Apple stated that in December it set a record of 2 billion downloads, so an average monthly rate of 1.5 billion is not so hard to imagine, considering the record set this year.

Extremely important in this calculation is the fact that we are talking about single downloads of the applications, so not about updates or re-downloads on the same devices. Apple only measures unique downloads for applications, so the actual number of downloads could even be double, if we take into account updates and re-downloads. The record set today by Apple could be broken by Google Play in the not too distant future, but for now the App Store remains "raging".
